As part of the program curriculum, we are breeding a mare to teach the students pedigrees, genetics, bloodline crossing theories, as well as proper mare and foal care. The foal will be sold to help pay the bills. We do not receive government funding. We have done exhaustive research using diverse breeding techniques to discover the optimum breeding cross available, to produce an offspring foal with the highest likelihood to compete and succeed on the racetrack.
The offspring foal of a cross between FUSAICHI PEGASUS x HEIDI'S HOLIDAY would have an much higher than above average opportunity to make it to the racetrack and starting a race, with a higher-than-average probability of winning a race and an average probability of winning a Stakes Race.

Studying successful breeding crosses adds important information to help in slecting breeding crosses and valuating offspring.

Industry Expert Opinions:
Jack Brothers of Adena Springs
"I really like the mare (Heidis Holiday}, I Love the variety of speed and distance in her pedigree"
Jack Van Berg, Hall of Fame Trainer, Eclipse Award Outstanding Trainer, over 6500 winners since 1957
"(Heidi's Holiday) she's a good mare, YES she's worth breeding!!!"
" FUSAICHI PEGASUS, He had a lot of good horses, He's good. He produces racehorses. He got some good runners, as he's had a lot of good horses that ended up in the hands of the wrong people"

Bill Casner, thoroughbred expert since the 1970's:
"I owned Heidi's Holiday at one time and as I recall, sold her at the 2-year-old in training sale at Keeneland. ($75,000) She was a beautiful filly and by the right kind of sire. "
Gainesway Farm in Kentucky:
"The mare is very nice...I like your mare, Heidiís Holiday, and would love to work out an arrangement for her to visit a Gainesway stallion. "
World renowned trainer Mark Casse, Canadian Hall of Fame trainer:
"First let me start by saying that I really like your mare, I have had a lot of luck with the Harlanís Holiday offspring and like hard knocking racemares. I would definitely be interested in training anything out of the mare no matter what sire line you decide to go with. As you know itís very hard to predict how good any horse can be but given your mare and your 3 choices I think you are putting yourself in a position to get lucky. "

"HEIDI's HOLIDAY is an excellent example actually, as she was tough and hardy and very few horses have 50+ starts and won 5 races. She won 5 and not many do that anywhere
your approach is correct, she is by HARLAN'S HOLIDAY and 2nd dam is THUNDER GULCH, those 2 are producing SWs so that's a good sign. Our motto is Dig for Gold where Gold has been found before, and that is what you are doing.
I have concluded over the past 10 years that absolutely nobody knows which young stallions are going to make it. I see every year champion horses go to stud, get very good mares, and their offspring are slow. No one knows. With unproven mares it is VERY important you go to a proven sire as at least you know you have a chance. Unproven mare x Unproven stallion usually is a disaster. I wouldn't be concerned about age of stallion if physically he suits the mare.
the game is very difficult even for those with good mares and high budgets. Think about this : farms will tell you "this is a good stallion he produces 7% SW/runners" so what that means he get 93% mediocre speed horses, and that's the good stallions."
